Sony has unveiled a new 27-inch gaming monitor designed specifically for PlayStation 5 desktop setups. According to the official PlayStation Blog, this display is “built for desktop gaming with a PS5” and even includes a built-in hook to charge a DualSense (or DualSense Edge) wireless controller. Developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment, the monitor targets gamers who want a dedicated desk setup or personal gaming space. In fact, Sony notes that many players “enjoy having the flexibility” to play PS5 games outside the living room, so this 27″ monitor offers another option for those players. It is intended to pair with other PlayStation desktop accessories (like the new Pulse Elevate wireless speakers) for a high-quality audio-visual gaming experience
Key Features
- Display: 27″ IPS panel with QHD (2560×1440) resolution. This larger-than-FHD resolution allows gamers to sit at a comfortable desk distance while still enjoying sharp detail.
- HDR Support: High Dynamic Range (HDR) with Auto HDR Tone Mapping. The monitor automatically adjusts HDR settings when you first set up a PS5 or PS5 Pro, ensuring bright highlights and rich colors in compatible games.
- High Refresh & VRR: Supports Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and high frame rates. On PS5 and PS5 Pro consoles, it can run up to 120 Hz for ultra-smooth gameplay. If you connect a PC or Mac, it supports up to 240 Hz at 1440p (via DisplayPort), or 240 Hz at 1440p over HDMI 2.1 (with FRL/VRR).
- DualSense Charging Hook: Uniquely, the monitor has a built-in hook on its top edge that can securely hold and charge a DualSense or DualSense Edge controller (sold separately) when it’s not in use. This ensures your controller is always ready to go between gaming sessions.
- Multi-device Connectivity: Two HDMI 2.1 inputs and one DisplayPort 1.4 input allow you to connect multiple devices. Each video input can handle up to 2560×1440 at 240 Hz. Additionally, it provides two USB Type-A ports and one USB-C port (for PlayStation Link adapters or other USB devices) to support things like the PS Link remote play adapter.
- Audio and Mounting: The monitor includes built-in stereo speakers and a 3.5 mm audio output jack for headphones or external speakers. It also supports VESA mounting for more flexible installation on a desk or wall

Release and Availability
According to Sony, the 27″ PlayStation Gaming Monitor will launch in 2026 in the U.S. and in Japan. Specific dates and pricing have not been announced yet. So far, Sony has not revealed any plans for other regions or a price point. As PushSquare notes, “there’s no word on a price or whether the product will be available outside of the US and Japan,” suggesting Sony may be testing the waters with a limited release. We’ll have to wait for Sony’s official announcements in the coming months for more details on availability.
